Cell Phones! We want your old cell phones!

sybil

Volunteer Sybil Henk (Pictured above with one of the collection boxes) is heading up a push to collect cell phones for Turning Point.  We turn in old cell phones (working or non-working) for cash from recyclers who strip out re-usable parts and precious metals from the phones. This also keeps old cell phones from winding up in landfills, which is a benefit for us all!

Sybil is placing boxes at area libraries and at MCC’s Promise Office, so look around, dig out those old phones and drop them in one of the recycling boxes!

Turning Point auction seeks item donations

mr-fixit-bag

Dear Friend of Turning Point,

We ask you to consider a donation to our Annual Auction

To be held Friday April 23rd, 2010

In the past, generous donations from local businesses like you have assisted in our efforts to confront violence against women & children in McHenry County. In 2009, as they have for over 28 years, our dedicated staff served thousands of women & children who walked through our doors or called in an effort to end violence in their lives & homes.

Our 28th annual Auction will be held on April 23rd, 2010. We are asking for your support. Your donated item will appear in our auction catalog that will be distributed to the attendees. Charity auctions like this one are a great opportunity to help your community and also an excellent way to reach new customers. This year, in addition to including all donors in our program, we will be listing them on our website. Turning Point is a registered not-for-profit (501C-3) corporation (#36-3163296) and your donation is tax deductible as allowed by law.

We thank you for your consideration in helping Turning Point continue to serve the families in our communities. Please feel free to send your donation directly to the address below or contact the Turning Point office at (815) 338-8081 to schedule a pick up.

Sincerely,

Joe Kvidera

PLACE AN AD IN OUR AUCTION PROGRAM BOOK

For the past 28 years, our Auction has been a major fundraiser for Turning Point. Proceeds from this auction will go to serve the people who walk through our doors in an effort to end the violence in their families. Imagine the way your donation can touch the lives of our clients!

We hope 200 people will attend this year’s auction. This program is indispensable to auction attendees; Not only does the program contain the evening program of events and all items up for bids, but it also lists all the names of organizations and individuals who support the Auction through gifts of time, products, or monetary donations. In addition, this year, for the first time, we will be featuring our program donors on our website so that even Turning Point supporters who cannot attend will know of your donation.

Community support

11-23-0111

From today’’s Northwest Herald:

To the Editor:

The holiday spirit was especially strong this year. After a very tough year filled with state and federal budget shortfalls and local economic woes, Turning Point approached this holiday season fearful of what Santa might have in store for us.

But I never should have doubted McHenry County. The generosity of the businesses, churches, groups and individual supporters of Turning Point has been magnificent. I am happy to report our clients in need were able to spend a merrier Christmas due to their generosity. Thanks for all the hats, gloves, scarves and especially the gift cards that have made sure that this Christmas was a merry (and warm) one.

And thank you to all who sent financial donations to help us continue our programs and services, also. It’s not too late – the need continues all year round.

You can mail a check to Turning Point, P.O. Box 723, Woodstock, IL 60098, or call 815-338-8081 for more information.

Thanks you all, and Happy New Year to all.

Jane Farmer

Executive Director, Turning Point
