Psych exam ordered for man accused of stabbing mother
It’s been another particularly violent few weeks in McHenry county, with three murders of parents by children since the first of the year, with incidents in Algonquin, Fox River Grove and this one last week in unincoporated Cary.
” A McHenry County judge ordered a psychiatric evaluation for a 50-year-old schizophrenic man accused of fatally stabbing his 80-year-old mother Friday.
Assistant Public Defender Christopher Harmon requested the evaluation for James E. Trzcinski, of 3412 Crystal Lake Ave. outside Cary, this afternoon.
“I could have no meaningful discourse with my client,” said Harmon, who was appointed Saturday.
A mental health professional will provide an opinion on whether Trzcinski can understand legal proceedings, the roles of those involved and assist in his defense. If McHenry County Judge Joseph Condon determines he is not fit to stand trial, Trzcinski would be sent to a secure mental health facility where state employees would try to rehabilitate him by a legal deadline.
McHenry County sheriff’s police responded to the Trzcinski home about 1:15 p.m. Friday after receiving a domestic dispute call from the residence. Dorothy Trzcinski’s body was found in the back of the house.”
