Community Support

A group of dedicated volunteers created Turning Point, and volunteers remain a vital source of support to the agency and its clients.

Individuals and groups who give time, energy, and resources are a cornerstone in our efforts to confront violence against women and children in McHenry County.

Turning Point welcomes individuals and groups who are looking for direct and indirect volunteer service. Wide range of opportunities are available from providing crisis intervention to collecting supplies to a group service day.

Direct service

Volunteers interact with clients. Direct Service volunteers must participate in a 40-hour training course, a background check, and sign confidentiality agreements. Upon completion of the training, volunteers are placed according to their interest and the needs of the agency.

Indirect Service

Volunteers support Turning Point by assisting with day-to-day operations, fundraising, maintenance, event committees, and more.
